Terms of Service

The agreement between you and Find Fundi when you book a fundi or work as one. Each section starts with a short summary, but the full text is what counts.

Last updated 5 October 2026

1Who we are

In short: Find Fundi is run by Solarian Welfare, and you can reach us by email.

Find Fundi is a service run by Solarian Welfare, a registered self-help group in Kenya ("we", "us"). When these terms say "you", they mean anyone who uses Find Fundi, whether as a customer, a fundi, or both.

Questions about these terms can be sent to rickyngigi2020@gmail.com.

By creating an account or using Find Fundi, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

2What Find Fundi does

In short: we connect you with a fundi. The fundi does the work, not us.

Find Fundi helps customers who need a repair or installation find a fundi (a skilled technician) who does that kind of work, and helps fundis find jobs.

Fundis on Find Fundi are independent. They are not our employees or agents. When a customer and a fundi agree on a job, the agreement for that work is between the two of them. We are not a party to it, and we don't carry out, supervise or guarantee the work.

3Your account

In short: use your real details and keep your login to yourself.

You can sign up with an email and password or with your Google account. When you do, you agree to:

  • give your real name, a phone number you answer, and your correct area;
  • keep your password private and tell us if you think someone else has used your account;
  • take responsibility for what happens on your account.

One account can be used both to book fundis and to work as a fundi.

4Posting a job

In short: describe a real job, and know that fundis in that trade can see what you post.

To post a job you choose the kind of work, describe the problem in writing or with a voice note, and can add photos and your location. Only post real jobs, and only upload photos and recordings you have the right to share.

You do not choose the fundi. Find Fundi offers your job to one verified fundi at a time who works in that category, starting with those who are online and nearest to the job. Each fundi has a short time to take it or pass, after which the job moves to the next one. If nobody takes it, we tell you and you can send it round again. We do not promise that any fundi will take a job, or how long it will take.

Who can see the photos and voice notes on your job

The photos and voice notes you attach to a job request can be seen by:

  • verified fundis who work in that job's category, while the job is still open, so they can understand the job before taking it; and
  • the fundi who takes the job.

The same applies to your written description and the location you set for the job. Please don't include anything in them that you wouldn't want those fundis to see, such as other people's faces, documents, or valuables you'd rather keep private.

5Price and payment

In short: you and the fundi agree the price. Find Fundi doesn't take or hold any money.

Once a fundi takes the job, the two of them can call each other to talk through it. The fundi then sends a price in the app, and the customer can accept it. The fundi can change the price until the customer accepts it.

When you accept a price you also pick how you plan to pay (M-Pesa, card or cash). Find Fundi does not currently process, collect or hold any payments. Payment is made directly between the customer and the fundi, and choosing a payment method in the app does not charge you.

Any disagreement about the price, extra costs, or whether the work was paid for is between the customer and the fundi. If we add payments through the app in future, we will update these terms before that starts.

6Phone numbers and location

In short: once a fundi is booked, you can see each other's name, phone and photo.

Once a fundi takes a job, the customer and that fundi can each see the other's name, phone number and profile photo, so they can arrange the work. Use these details only for that job.

Fundis can choose to share their live location. It is only shared while they have it switched on, and only with a customer whose job they are currently booked for. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

7If you work as a fundi

In short: you must be 18 or older, send us genuine documents, only take work you can do, and keep your status honest.

You must be at least 18 years old to work as a fundi. We may refuse or remove the verification of anyone under 18.

To work as a fundi you apply with your national ID number, your trade, your highest qualification, your years of experience, and a copy of your national ID or passport as a PDF. You also show that you are qualified, in one of two ways: attach one or more certificates as PDFs, or say that you have none. If you have no certificate, we will call you, arrange a time to watch you work, and may issue you a Find Fundi certification, which we treat the same as an uploaded certificate. We review every application before we approve it. You agree that:

  • you are 18 or older;
  • everything you submit is true and the documents are yours;
  • you have any licence or permit the law requires for the work you take on;
  • you will only accept jobs you are able to do safely and properly;
  • you will show yourself as online only when you are actually available for work;
  • you are responsible for your own tools, taxes, and the quality and safety of your work.

What "verified" means: a verified fundi has had their ID and their proof of trade reviewed by us, either documents they sent or a Find Fundi interview. It is not a guarantee of their skill, conduct or the result of any job.

8Ratings and reviews

In short: rate honestly, and only for jobs that really happened.

Customers can rate and review a fundi after a job is marked complete. Reviews must be honest and about that job. Don't post reviews that are false, abusive, or offer or accept anything in exchange for a rating. We may remove reviews that break these rules.

9What's not allowed

In short: no fraud, harassment, or misuse of other people's details.

When using Find Fundi you must not:

  • pretend to be someone else or submit fake documents;
  • post fake jobs, or accept jobs you have no intention of doing;
  • threaten, harass or discriminate against anyone you meet through the service;
  • use someone's phone number or other details for anything other than the job;
  • upload anything illegal, offensive, or that you don't have the right to share;
  • try to break into, overload or copy the service or other people's accounts.

10Staying safe

In short: use your own judgement when meeting someone for a job.

Jobs usually mean a fundi visiting a customer's home or business. We can't check everyone's behaviour in person, so use sensible care: confirm who is coming, agree the price before work starts, and don't hand over money or valuables you aren't comfortable with. If someone behaves in a way that puts others at risk, tell us at rickyngigi2020@gmail.com, and contact the police if anyone is in danger.

11Our responsibility

In short: we aren't responsible for the work, or for what happens between customers and fundis.

We provide Find Fundi as it is and as it is available. We work to keep it running and secure, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors.

As far as Kenyan law allows, we are not responsible for:

  • the quality, safety or result of any work a fundi does;
  • loss, damage or injury arising from dealings between customers and fundis;
  • payments made, or not made, between customers and fundis;
  • anything a user says or posts.

Nothing in these terms takes away any right you have under Kenyan law that cannot legally be removed, including your rights under the Consumer Protection Act.

12Suspending or closing accounts

In short: you can leave any time, and we can remove accounts that break these terms.

You can stop using Find Fundi at any time. To have your account and its data deleted, email rickyngigi2020@gmail.com from the address on your account.

We may refuse or remove a fundi's verification, and suspend or close any account, if it breaks these terms, puts other people at risk, or if we are required to by law.

13Changes to these terms

In short: if we change the terms, the date at the top changes too.

We may update these terms as Find Fundi changes. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and for important changes we'll tell you in the app or by email. If you keep using Find Fundi after a change, you accept the updated terms.

14Law and disputes

In short: Kenyan law applies, and we'd like to hear from you first.

These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya. If you have a complaint about Find Fundi, please email us first so we can try to sort it out. Any dispute that can't be settled that way will be handled by the courts of Kenya.
